Bookmobile Service to Schools

The bookmobile is a mobile library. It currently visits 17 schools that are either: nursery schools; preschools; child daycare centers; special service facilities; and one private parochial elementary school.

Primarily, the bookmobile book collection provides age appropriate fiction and non-fiction books with an emphasis on early literacy. The books in this collection will provide teachers with the tools to engage their students with pre-reading skills and basic academic concepts in the areas of reading, health/safety, science, math, social studies, the environment, good behavior and more.

Each stop is scheduled for one or two visits a month from September through June or year round if requested.

Borrowers may use their Warren County Library card or register for one on the Bookmobile.

Nursing Home Delivery Service
Some of our nursing homes choose to receive a bi-monthly collection of 25 to 50 books which are tailored to the needs of their facility. Others prefer that we deliver books once or twice a month to individual residents.

We lend large print books, audio books, regular print books and BiFolkal sensory kits. Each kit has a theme (music, trains, etc.) and contains a multi-media collection. The kit is presented by nursing home staff.

If you would like service at a facility or know someone in a Warren County nursing home who would like to receive books or audio books, please call 908-475-6378. However, facilities or residents who are located in the exempt areas* of Alpha, Belvidere, Hackettstown, Phillipsburg and Washington Borough are not eligible for this service.

Library to Home Delivery Service
Books, audo books, and music CDs are delivered to Warren County residents who because of significant impaired mobility are unable to leave their home for a visit to the library. Deliveries are scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month.

Services include:
1. Book delivery and pickup once a month on the 1st Tuesday.
2. Four to ten books or audio books per visit.
3. Patrons may request specific authors, titles, or subjects at the time of delivery or by telephone.

We deliver books to eligible Homebound residents of Warren County. To be eligible you must:
1. Live in Warren County but not in any of our exempt areas* (Alpha, Belvidere, Hackettstown, Phillipsburg, and Washington Borough).
2. Be unable to leave your home to visit the library due to significant impaired mobility. This includes visual disabilities and physical disabilities.

If you would like this service but are not sure if you qualify, please call and discuss your situation with us at 908-475-6378.

NJ Library for the Blind & Handicapped Service Center
(Located in the Bookmobile & Outreach Services Department at the Headquarters in Belvidere, NJ.)

The New Jersey Library for the Blind & Handicapped (NJLBH) provides free cassette players and loans audio book cassettes at no charge to visually and physically disabled residents of New Jersey.

As a designated service center for the NJLBH we are authorized to provide the following NJLBH equipment and services: replacement cassette players and extra audio book cassettes for registered NJLBH patrons and applications for permanent service. We will also provide cassette players and audio book cassettes on a temporary loan basis to county residents who would like to try the NJLBH service.

Patrons interested in this service must pick up their equipment/cassettes or have a friend or family member pick them up.
Please call 908-475-6378 for more information.

*Exempt Areas
The towns of Alpha, Belvidere, Hackettstown, Phillipsburg and Washington Boro do not use their library tax revenues to support the Warren County Library but instead have their own town libraries. For this reason, residents of these towns are not eligible for free service from the county library.

If you live in an exempt area and wish to borrow materials from the Warren County Library System, you may purchase a library card at any of the library locations or on the Bookmobile.
