LOCAL NEWSPAPERS We have 8 local newspapers that would be helpful with genealogical research.  The oldest goes back to 1826.
OBITUARY INDEX     A library volunteer has created 4 volumes of an obituary index for the Belvidere Apollo newspaper.  Additional volumes will follow.
CENSUS RECORDS  We have federal and New Jersey census records on microfilm plus some indexes for the federal census.
ABOUT OUR BUILDING The building in which the library is housed was called "The Blair Estate" and was built in 1865.

INDEXES TO SOME LOCAL PUBLICATIONS As time permits, we are trying to create name and place indexes to various local publications such as township histories, local magazines, historical society publications, and other such things.

 

     We do accept queries and will answer questions by mail.  Staff time does not allow us to do any in-depth research;  however, we will search in some of the obvious sources, especially those that are indexed.  We will also look for obituaries if you provide us with the date of death.  There is no charge for the above services.

     If you plan to visit us, you can use the Local History and Genealogy Room any time the library is open.  We have one microfilm reader/printer that is available on a first come, first served basis.  Time on the reader/printer is limited to 30 minutes if others are waiting to use it.  Copies are 10¢ each.

     The Local History and Genealogy collection does not circulate.
