Northeast Branch Volunteer Program

The Library’s volunteers are drawn from all sections of the community. They volunteer for a range of reasons, including: for something interesting to do in retirement, a desire to contribute to society, the wish to maintain or develop skills and for social contact.

They all have one thing in common—a desire to contribute actively to the Northeast Branch Library.

The Warren County Library System volunteer program was started on July 8, 1987 at the Library Headquarters building located in Belvidere . Now that the library has expanded, each branch is responsible for its own volunteer program.

Volunteers are vital to the library’s existence. Each volunteer plays an integral role by providing valuable services to assist both the staff and the public.

Adult volunteer duties

Shelving books, Shelf reading, Checking magazines, Coupon clipping, Help with craft programs, Computer classes, Story-time, Clerical duties, Circulation duties and Second language tutoring.

Nor’easter Junior Volunteers

Junior volunteers learn the basics of library work and prepare a foundation of a future work ethic. Junior volunteers often complete their scouting or religious requirements for community service by volunteering at the library. Junior volunteers must be 12 years of age and parental consent is required for applicants under 18.
